Trusting the One Who Holds the Universe
“For everything comes from God alone. Everything lives by his power, and everything is for his glory. To him be glory evermore.” — Romans 11:36
Life can often feel like a stormy sea. Uncertain futures, personal struggles, and world events can make us feel small, powerless, and adrift. Yet the doctrine of God’s sovereignty reminds us that nothing is truly “out of control.” God is not a passive observer of your life; He is actively governing it.
To be sovereign means that God is never helpless, never surprised, and never frustrated. Whether in a season of joy or a season of pain, the same hand that allows circumstances is the hand that promises to hold you through them. Joseph’s life illustrates this beautifully: what others intended for harm, God used for good, shaping a greater story that Joseph himself could not have imagined.
Trusting God is like watching a master weaver at work: the threads may look tangled now, but He is creating a beautiful pattern.”
When we realise our lives are not at the mercy of chance, fate, or human whim, we can experience profound peace. God’s sovereignty is not a cold, distant power; it is the loving rule of a Father who knows every detail of our lives and is working for our ultimate good.
Today, identify one situation that is causing you anxiety. Consciously surrender it by saying, “Lord, I trust that You are sovereign over this situation.” Let go of the need to control the outcome, and rest in the One who already holds it.
Prayer:
Lord, I thank You that You are on the throne. When my life feels chaotic, help me to rest in the truth that You are in control. I trust Your wisdom, Your timing, and Your love. Even when I cannot see Your hand, I will trust Your heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
