"In Our Questions – Christ Meets Us with Truth"
Based on John 8:31–32
In John 8:31–32, Jesus says to His followers: “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” On this day, we reflect on how Christ meets us in our questions, doubts, and search for meaning – offering His Word as the truth that answers our deepest longings and sets us free. Four key truths guide our reflection:
First, Questions Are a Path to Truth – Jesus does not dismiss our questions or demand blind faith. Instead, He invites us to hold fast to His teaching and promises that as we seek Him, we will come to know the truth we crave.
Second, His Word Addresses Our Deepest Longings – Whether we wonder about purpose, justice, love, or eternity, Scripture speaks to the core of what it means to be human. The truth of Christ answers our need for meaning, forgiveness, and connection with God.
Third, Truth Brings True Freedom – The truth Jesus offers does not restrict us but sets us free from the chains of sin, doubt, fear, and false beliefs. It frees us to live as we were created to live – in relationship with Him and in service to others.
Fourth, Christ Is the Source of All Truth – Jesus declares Himself “the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6). When we bring our questions to Him, we are not just seeking answers from a book – we are meeting the One who is truth itself.
Challenge – Today, take one question or longing that is on your heart and turn to Scripture to seek answers. Read relevant passages with an open heart, asking Jesus to reveal His truth to you. Consider discussing your questions with a trusted spiritual leader or friend.
Prayer – "Lord Jesus, thank You for meeting me in my questions and promising that Your truth will set me free. Help me to seek You with an open heart, holding fast to Your teaching. May Your Word answer my deepest longings and guide me in all I do. In Your name I pray, amen."
Conclusion
Our questions are not barriers to faith – they are invitations to draw closer to Christ and discover the truth that gives life. May we bring all our doubts and longings to Him, trusting that His Word will lead us to freedom and deeper relationship with Him.
