Standing Firm in Unchanging Truth
Truth is not reshaped to suit the culture around us. God does not bend His Word to fit popular opinion, nor does He revise His standards because the times have changed. What He has called right remains right; what He has called wrong does not become acceptable simply because it gains approval.
“Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.” — Psalm 119:89
We live in a world of constant change. Opinions shift. Headlines change. Social norms evolve. It can sometimes feel as though everything is negotiable. Yet Scripture reminds us that God’s truth is not fluid. It is settled, secure, and trustworthy.

Think of a builder laying foundations for a house. If the foundation is level, strong, and properly set, the house can withstand wind, rain, and time. But if a builder tries to adjust the foundation each time the weather changes, the structure will never stand. Stability depends on something fixed beneath it.
God’s Word is that foundation. It is not adjusted according to cultural pressure; it is laid firm and true. Our lives are strongest when they are built upon it.
This truth is both reassuring and stretching. Reassuring, because we are not left guessing what is right. Stretching, because following Jesus sometimes means choosing obedience over popularity.
God is not simply looking for our agreement with truth; He is calling us to live it. Truth that remains only in theory has not yet shaped the heart. But truth embraced and practiced becomes strength beneath our feet.
Challenge
This week, ask yourself: What is shaping my decisions most — cultural expectation or biblical conviction?
Choose one area of your life and intentionally align it with Scripture. Let God’s Word be your foundation, not just your reference point.
Prayer
Lord,
Thank You that Your Word is firm and unchanging. When I am tempted to follow the shifting patterns around me, anchor me again in Your truth. Give me courage to build my life on what You have said, even when it is unpopular. Help me not only to hear Your Word, but to obey it.
Amen.
