About Us

St Nicholas Methodist Church has existed on the present site for over 150 years since it opened in 1867.

We are a friendly community of believers where all are welcomed. We help each other to worship God, and strive to live more like Christ in service beyond the walls of our church building.

Day 2 Fruit of the Spirit - Love

1 John 4:16-18 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
Where is the love, where is that fruit,
We  strangely crave yet rarely root
Into the weariness of days
Where hearts pull hard in other ways.

Such fruit is rarely realised
Or stored, or shared or even prized
Beyond the treasures of the earth,
No wonder hope lacks heaven’s new birth.

Yet though we fear, and even dread,
Your holy fruit of love instead
Lives in our lives, for God is love,
And there his loving grace behove.

O Spirit Love, come drive out fear,
And in my life love’s fruit appear,
So that in loving boldness find
New confidence of live’s entwined.
