About Us

St Nicholas Methodist Church has existed on the present site for over 150 years since it opened in 1867.

We are a friendly community of believers where all are welcomed. We help each other to worship God, and strive to live more like Christ in service beyond the walls of our church building.

Day 3 Fruit of the Spirit - Peace

Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Within the throne of my poor heart,
Sits dangers that pull peace apart.
Competing despots of desire
Who vie to rule. my will acquire.

Yet too,  I find Christ’s biding peace
That lovingly makes war’s to cease
And shares the body building fruit,
With those at one, who share his route.

The way of God’s pure peace that binds
The oneness  of all humankind.
Assured of Christ’s own lasting  peace
With thanks, our praise to give increase.

Lord of the shattered bow and spear,
Who makes the plough shear to appear,
That through the common calm enjoyed
Your gracious peace comes, fills our void.

“In the midst of the awesomeness, a touch comes, and you know it is the right hand of Jesus Christ. You know it is not the hand of restraint, correction, nor chastisement, but the right hand of the Everlasting Father. Whenever His hand is laid upon you, it gives inexpressible peace and comfort, and the sense that "underneath are the everlasting arms," (Deuteronomy 33:27) full of support, provision, comfort and strength.”
