God Who Shares His Secrets
We often think of secrets as something hidden, locked away, or even harmful. Being secretive suggests distance, control, or fear—keeping others out. But sharing a secret is very different. It is an act of trust, an invitation into relationship. When someone shares a secret with you, they are saying, “I trust you. I want you to know my heart.”
Psalm 25:14 offers a beautiful and surprising truth:
“The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.”
This is not a God who withholds out of suspicion or power. This is a God who shares—who draws close, who invites us into the deeper meaning of His promises.
The psalmist is clear that this intimacy is rooted in fearing the Lord. But this fear is not about being frightened. It is about awe. It is reverence. It is recognising God’s holiness and majesty and responding with obedience, trust, and love. To fear the Lord is to take God seriously enough to listen, to follow, and to shape our lives around His ways.
When we live with that posture of reverence, God shares His heart with us. He reveals His purposes, His covenant faithfulness, and His guidance for the path ahead. Not always all at once, and not always in spectacular ways—but through Scripture, prayer, community, and the quiet prompting of His Spirit.

Think of a time when someone trusted you with a secret—not gossip, but something precious. How did it make you feel? Did it change how you related to them? Now ask yourself: What practices help me live with a reverent openness to God? This week, intentionally set aside ten quiet minutes each day. Read Psalm 25 slowly, and listen—not for information, but for invitation.
God still confides in those who fear Him.
Prayer
Lord God,
You are not distant or secretive,
but a faithful God who longs for relationship.
Teach us what it truly means to fear You—
with awe, love, obedience, and trust.
Quiet our hearts so we may hear Your voice,
and shape our lives to honour Your covenant.
Thank You that You invite us into Your wisdom
and share Your heart with us.
