All Are Welcome

At St Nicholas Methodist you will find a friendly welcome where we help each other to worship God, and strive to live more like Christ in service beyond the walls of our church building. We are part of the Exeter Coast and Country Circuit.

Daily Devotions

Come, Lord Jesus!

“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me… I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” … “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.” Revelation 22:12–13, 20

The Bible ends not with a command, but a cry. Not with a conclusion, but with a call:

“Come, Lord Jesus.”

It’s the desperate prayer of the church in every age and place. When the world groans under injustice, when hearts are weary with waiting, when hope feels distant—this prayer rises:
“Come, Lord Jesus.”

This is not about escapism. It's not simply a wish to leave the world behind, but a plea for Christ to restore all things. It’s a longing for His justice to break in, for His peace to rule, and for His love to fill the earth like the waters cover the sea.

And even as we wait for His return, we live as people of His kingdom now. We keep faith. We act with courage. We show mercy. Because we believe the King is not absent—He is on the way.

To pray “Come, Lord Jesus” is to admit the world isn’t as it should be—but it also declares: it won’t stay this way forever. The King is coming. And we’re getting ready.

At a family dinner, a chair sat empty at the table—set, prepared, waiting. It was for a loved one expected soon. Though the seat was empty, the space was filled with anticipation.

The Church does something similar. In every act of worship, justice, and love, we prepare a space—for the returning King. Our hope is not just memory—it’s expectation.

We keep the seat ready.
We set the table.
We watch the horizon.
Come, Lord Jesus.

Lord Jesus, come into our world of pain and division. Come into our lives with grace and truth. Come into your Church with renewal and power. We long for your return. Until then, let your kingdom come in us. Amen.
