All Are Welcome

At St Nicholas Methodist you will find a friendly welcome where we help each other to worship God, and strive to live more like Christ in service beyond the walls of our church building. We are part of the Exeter Coast and Country Circuit.

Standing Firm in the Storm

Scripture: “Therefore, putting on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” – Ephesians 6:11

Life can feel like a storm at sea. Winds of doubt, waves of worry, and currents of distraction threaten to sweep us off course. But God calls us to stand firm—rooted in Him, equipped with His truth, and strengthened by His Spirit.

Spiritual growth isn’t just about knowing God’s commands—it’s about living them, letting His Word shape our thoughts, actions, and hearts. The “armor of God” is more than a metaphor; it’s a daily invitation to grow stronger in faith, resist deception, and act with courage and love.

Think of a lighthouse on a rocky shore. The storm rages, but the light doesn’t waver. Its steady glow guides ships safely through treacherous waters. In the same way, mature believers reflect God’s light, standing firm and helping others navigate life’s storms.

Growth takes time, patience, and practice. Every choice to trust God, obey Him, and serve others strengthens your faith and builds spiritual resilience. And the beauty is that God never stops working in you—He continues to shape and equip you for His purposes.

Prayer:

Father God,

Thank You for equipping me with Your armour and for standing with me in every storm. Help me grow in faith, courage, and discernment, so that I may stand firm against anything that threatens to shake me.

Strengthen me to reflect Your light, guide others, and walk boldly in Your truth. May I continue to grow in wisdom, love, and obedience, trusting that You are faithful to complete the work You began in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
